Boast in your Lord

2 Cor. 10:17-18
17 "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." 18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
  • How often do you boast about yourself in some way?
  • How often do you boast about your Lord?
  • Which of your actions yesterday would Jesus commends ?
  • Which of your routine actions would Jesus not commends ?
  • Why is it so difficult to only want Jesus' approval and not your own?

Paul no doubt quoted from Jer. 9:23 and 24. The passage in 2 Cor:10:17-18 and Jer. 9 cause me to think about my pride and what I have boasted in during this last week. When I do something really well, I want to receive credit rather than give God the credit. This is pride and pride will not allow me to be humble. Boy do I have a pride problem sometimes. Just ask my wife. There are times I fall back and give myself credit for things in God's Kingdom and never give him the credit. It is always better for me to seek the praise of God rather than praise from those around me. I need to concentrate more on this and always give God the credit.
